At PSE, sustainability is central to our mission. In 2024, we’re proud to have contributed 6,715 trees to the Mangrove Regeneration project, creating 2,686 hours of employment in the process.

Projects like this offer a unique opportunity to restore ecosystems, support local communities, and offset carbon emissions. Our commitment to sustainability is a pledge to ensure that the work we do today creates a positive impact for the generations of tomorrow.

What is the project?

Mangrove Regeneration is a project run by Eden Reforestation Projects, which has reforestation and poverty alleviation at its heart.

To date, they have planted over 334 million trees across 8 countries. This has opened up 3.3 million days of work for local communities. By the year 2025, their goal is to plant 500 million trees each year.

Why is it so important?

Mangroves provide benefits such as storm surge protection and vital habitat for many species. Degradation of mangroves brings loss of fish stocks, soil quality degradation, vulnerability to extreme events and income loss from charcoal production and timber logging.

Eden Restoration is using a unique methodology of ‘employ to plant’ in order to target both degradation and poverty. This aims to involve locals within the core project execution and provide fair employment to local people so that they may grow, plant, and guard native species to maturity.

In Madagascar, forest restoration is a critical issue. The country has lost over 90% of its native forest cover, this is a huge loss for biodiversity since approximately 75% of its species are not found anywhere else in the world. Mangroves are an excellent forest type for restoration. Each mangrove tree removes around 308kg of CO2 from the atmosphere over the course of its life cycle (approximately 25 years).

Measuring Our Impact

One of the keys to our involvement in the carbon offset initiative is transparency. In 2024 alone we have contributed 6,715 trees, created 2,686 hours of employment, carbon balanced 283,772kg, and protected 54,200 m2 of land.

Why We Support This Initiative

“Supporting initiatives like Mangrove Regeneration reflects our commitment to responsible marketing and sustainable practices. These projects don’t just offset our carbon footprint—they give back to communities, restore vital ecosystems, and help tackle the climate crisis head-on. At PSE, we see this as a natural extension of our values and our responsibility to make a meaningful difference.”
